Up the top of Mt. Kobau.. The storm was rolling in, absolutly gorgeous
Hey everyone,
I am back from vacation and ready to kick this blog off right. This week I am featuring, drum roll please.... The OUTDOORS! I know it sounds cheesy but here in the Okanagan we have loads of hiking, biking, rock climbing, swimming, you name it.
I recently just got into hiking and it is a world that I
wish I had entered earlier. Osoyoos has a great spot, Mt. Kobau. To get up the
mountain it is mostly old logging roads but once you get to a point where you
would like to venture the outdoors, the spots are endless. There is also a GPS
map for the one trail, this helps if your a newbie and nervous about taking on
nature. Once you get your bearings, the options are endless. The top of the
mountain is amazing, you can see all of Oliver, Osoyoos and into Orville. Not
to mention the endless clouds rolling in, and in general nature at it’s finest.
The trail available on GPS will take you about a day for the average person.
Hiking is one of the greatest forms of exercise. Your outside, moving on an incline and if your going hard definitly working up a sweat. The first hike you do may seem daunting but you will get hooked really quick! We all need to get out more, since these days more time is spent watching tv then playing a soccer ball. So why not try something new and if you are an avid hiker good for you, get those couch potatoes on board with you!
If this is somethign your interested in the Canyon View Trail, KVR Naramata, Nkwala Mountain and
Giant’s Head Mountain are also some great spots for a hike. I’d recommend checking
them out, but be sure not to hike alone. You never know what could happen and
you want to be safe. For additional trails check out this website http://adventurecatalogue.homestead.com/TrailGuide/TrailGuideOkanaganSouth.html
Until Next time
Cheers,
Sara Amos
